Summertime - The Sundays

This was one of my favorite songs in high school. Still remains to this day. I know several things.

1. I am missing my computer cord until Monday, (on loan to a friend) and my camera cable (lost in the abyss of my suitcase and my room). So I found all these photos on flickr. Heaven sent they are. But I have taken tons of photos, so they will turn up on here sooner or later.
2. This song has felt so appropriate for the last few leisurely days I've had with my family and friends.
3. SUMMER HAS FINALLY ARRIVED.
4. The B famille are desperately trying to plan a vacation for August. We are all in agreement. Even ma Mere.
5. I love home.
6. I LOVE SUMMER.
7. I love Wolf Trap.
8. I love seeing my sisters so happy.
9. I love when my father runs into my room, with the NY Post because my younger sister is in it.
10. This is the happiest I have been in SIX MONTHS. I am lovin' life!

Gone, Gone, Gone (Live) - Miles Davis & Quincy Jones

This is my little bohemian pad and that's my roommate, warming up to dance. She dances, I sew. We both drink tea. It is a happy, mellow existence. Now that I am incredibly busy and slightly overwelmed, working freelance. . . I like to reminisce about previous weeks when I wasn't so busy and life was idle and quite sweet. . . with the occasional internship hours thrown into the mix.

Here I am, looking nice and spiffy. When I bought the pashmina on Canal St. (the poor man's Fifth Avenue), I had no idea that it matched THAT dress. (Y'know, the one with the really bad pit stains). And the Proenza Schouler coat ($44.99) for Target looks good with anything and everything. I get so many compliments on that coat and no one usually has a clue that it came from Target!

I had lunch with Mer and her Mother at the Tribeca Grill. It was delightful. That whole day left me waltzing on a cloud of air. Not nearly as chaotic as this week. (Sigh). Those lovely, lovely days.

Work - RJD2

And yet, another show begins and I find myself with no time to see family or friends.
Tonight my Grammy prepared a birthday cake for me (which I missed out on).
And I also missed out on beers with two of my favourite gals.
And that makes me sad. Oh work.

I still want a jumper though. Like this one from www.lagarconne.com. . . I got some money for my birthday specifically for spending on clothing. . . hmmm. . .

Happy Birthday To You! - Stevie Wonder

I have so much to say.
So much has happened in the last month.
But because there's a lot going on, I feel like my blogging often gets pushed to the side.

But I've had an excellent birthday! I am home in Virginia for a week and a half, doing some television work. I came home from babysitting my favorite toddler and this was in my room. My darling family clearly thinks it's funny that I strip down when sewing clothes, to try on whatever I'm making. But now it will be so much easier to get the sizing right! Yay! Now out for dinner and drinks with friends. It's been a phenomenal day! Just like birthday's should be. . .

I find the key to is to expect nothing. Because when you expect nothing. . . you realize you have EVERYTHING.

O Green World- Gorillaz

photo: www.bagsnob.com
I can't say I really understand the hype of the Anya Hindmarch eco bag. Queing up for hours before the shops open? Don't quite understand that for a canvas bag. However, if I come across one in the US, I will certainly snatch it up quickly because anyone that knows me, knows I'm a lover of the canvas bags. I have a massive collection from my interior design days. I think it's really nice that for once, us poor girls can afford an "IT bag" (They cost 5 pounds in the UK). Plus, I do think it's a good concept. . . and her heart was in the right place, so isn't that the only thing that matters?

I do however, understand that I love my Marc Jacobs ego bag ($12). And in the week that I've had my bag, it's been to more states than many inhabitats of Alabama (which isn't hard to achieve. . . but still). My bag has been through New York, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Washington D.C. and of course Virginia. Here it is, at an ultimate fighting match which I stage managed last week. I was careful to keep it out of the path of blood and sweat. The amazing traveling bag.

Resolution - Thievery Corporation

Today, I felt as if New York and I have finally put our differences aside and resolved that I am destined to have a nice life here. Today was a fabulous day. I got free lunch at a wonderful restaurant in the village because of my friend Meredyth. I made two great new friends which you'll hear more about in the future. One who gave me a BEAUTIFUL present and one who gave me a FREE beer. Both are equally sweet and I can't wait to hang out with them more.

I took these pictures last week when I wore this ensemble. This is indeed the cheapest outfit I own and I am so proud of it.
Dress- Made By ME! ($2/yard fabric on the discount pile, and it only took 3 yards to make!)
Shoes - Payless ($14.99, these shoes have taken such a beating in New York, but this still keep going)
Cardigan - Target ($16.99)

I have been sitting up working furiously on a dress and listening to my noisy upstaires neighbors have the "Furniture Moving Party", I swear they're having at 3am every other night of the week. But I couldn't care less because it was such a great day. And I'm still a little sauced.

Ping Pong - Stereolab

Back and forth, back and forth, between Washington DC and New York I go. When I'm in New York, I go to lots of parties, go into the office a lot and hang out with my sister. When I'm in DC, it's work, work, work (and squeezing in time to see friends). This is not to say my life is cooler than your's. . . more so, that I am probably more tired than you. I'm really effin' tired. But it's better than being bored.
And on Friday, it's back down to DC for 1.5 weeks. I shall get back on my scheduled blogging very soon but until then. . . here's some pics from the Nylon party last Wednesday with Lindsay Lohan.

Here's Tracy. She is really fun and definitely a good person to be an office with. She never skips out on any of the shitty chores like taking out the trash.

Although she's smiling here, Lindsay Lohan looked really sad on the red carpet and it actually made me feel pretty bad, watching her. I wonder what was up.

A Ribbon For My Hair - Bent

A week ago, I had a bit of an accessory melt down, when I realized my hair was truly unruly and I had nothing to fight it back with. Thank the heavens for H&M and their cheap accessories. I've been craving an elastic double headband for so long now. Now, I've got three! And some really fantastic red aviators (it's time for some variation from my gold Gucci shades)

Just What Can Happen - Blackalicious

With the help of Fairy God Mother Fashionista, lil' sis and I found ourselves in the Kate Moss for Topshop party at Barneys. At first my dear sister, had said she didn't want to go, because she had work to do and was feeling down. But I convinced her eventually and I think we were both happy we did. On top of seeing Kate Moss dive into a giant SUV (she's got very nice legs) with Katy England, we nearly got ran over by a very determined Naomi Campbell. And we saw a very radiant Irina standing outside with friends and a very leggy, blond Agyness Deyn. Overall, I can't say the collection was so much for me. The size six, definitely resembled the shape of a size 0. . . but I really enjoyed the party. Here are some pictures.

These two DJs were so adorable and having so much fun. They are like a mini party for two.

Something In The Way She Moves - James Taylor

Bad, bad, blogger. I've been home for a week, but busy as one can be. Work everyday, parties every night. It's birthday season and television work is picking up again. New York makes me really appreciate home and all it's comforts. I never thought I'd hear myself say that. I think I will be quite transient for a bit. I like that. It reminds me of this song.

Back to the good stuff. Rumor has it (cough, www.Fashionista.com, cough), that Kate Moss will pull that awesome stunt where she stands in the window at Barney's posing a a mannequin to unveil her new Kate Moss for Topshop collection tomorrow (Tuesday). And darling dear sister, you are so going with me. So get ready. No event short of sickness or death will keep us from getting a glimpse of Miss Moss. . . so put on your running shoes and mark your calendar. I'll report back shortly.
