Today I walked across this bridge to the post office to mail a bunch of stuff. It was glorious out. The sun was bright and shining. At 7:30pm I went to ballet and my teacher told me in the middle of an exercise "you are very strong, good job".
I had to bite my tongue to keep from getting a goofy, joyful look on my face.

So you may not know this (but you probably do), but I miss London with all my heart. Every day even. I've decided to go back this spring for a visit (on top of this summer for a wedding), but I am so afraid of flying by myself that just buying the ticket is a terrifying experience. Hence I keep sitting on it, like it's going to magically buy itself. I need to have a Ticket Buying Party and gather all my friends around me to cheer me on, thus making it completely unavoidable.
Any way these postcards by Emma Cowlam from Illustrated Paper Company were just another reminder this morning. It's as if the world is gently nudging me, saying "don't be a pussy".

Or maybe it's this. Maybe it's that all I crave right now is simplicity. I pinned the denim, white shirt photo from Wit and Delight's Tumblr and within 24 hours, it had been repinned over 200 times! So clearly I'm not the only one. And that extends to every other portion of my life. I want my diet to be simple (breakfast was a cup of tea, a banana and an avocado). Getting dressed in the morning is pretty easy when you're as dull as I am right now. All black, a splash of color. Sometimes neutrals. Done. And as far as romantic compassion, I want to love you and I want you to love me. Let's just keep things plain for a moment, shall we? Stop, stand here with me. Feel the wind on your face.
Shirt from Old Navy. It's an incredibly good deal.

Honestly WTF was so kind to post the most updated photos of Marni for H&M and all I can think is "Honestly, WTF is wrong with me? Why don't I want any of this?"
'Tis a peculiar thing when you feel you've outgrown something you once loved. Marni has been one of my favorite brands, easily since 2003 perhaps? This collaboration would have 21-year-old me, daydreaming about it day and night. But maybe it's because I'm older. Or maybe it's because I have two pairs of fantastic Marni shoes and a beautiful blouse which I treasure. Or maybe it's because I just don't want as much as I wanted in the past. But either way, I guess I kind of shrugged my shoulders when I saw these photos. Though I said it once and I'll say it again, the accessories are where I'm hedging my bets. Those necklaces look ace!

Today seems like much too beautiful a day to be trapped inside. As I sit at my desk, dying to be outdoors, there's a certain freedom growing in my heart, like a wild splash of watercolor in a Conrad Roset illustration. Funny how warmer weather brings that out in us. What are you kids up to this weekend?

A good friend who is living in one of the world's most expensive cities, asked me recently for some tips on saving money. Now those that know me and read this blog, are snort laughing, having just read those words. Soda is covering a computer screen somewhere. I know I have a clothing and shoe problem. However when I can reign in that bit of excess, I'm pretty good at saving my cash flow. So here are five random tips from my brain to yours. I'll limit it to five so this doesn't get preachy and boring. How cool is that grenade bank?
1. Never use an ATM which charges a fee. It's YOUR money, why should you pay to retrieve it? You're better off buying something small from Whole Foods and getting cash back (if you're in a crunch). At least you get something out of the deal.
2. Avoid using credit cards for frivolous purchases. Use your bank card. Meaning if you don't have the cash in the bank, you don't need it. It's much easier to keep track of your spending this way.
3. When you grocery shop, set a limit and stick to it (I suggest $40 per a trip but for a city dweller, make that $60). See how creative you can get on stretching those dolla dolla bills, yo.
4. Prepare two large dishes (a pasta and a casserole) at home on your least busiest day and eat it for lunch and dinner for most of the week. I enjoy this Sunday evening tradition of listening to music and cooking. Having premade meals saves me a metric boatload of time on top of money.
5. Brew your own coffee at home three times a week and take a thermos to work. The smell is hypnotic and wakes you pleasantly while saving you moulah. Starbucks should be a rare treat. (Which means you'll enjoy it more when you give in to the urge. Or maybe you'll stop wanting it at all).

How amazing is this colorful, super bright campaign photographed by Candice Lake for Australian shoe brand, Betts? The colors just pop right off the page. The model is Montana Cox who won Australia's Next Top Model and from the looks of it, she might have a promising career ahead of her. I also really love the styling . . . the clothes are so jubilant!

Happy Mass Consumerism day to my favorite Bachelorettes and then some non-Bachelorettes. Yours truly falls in the former. This is probably one of the most ground breaking videos to come out of the 90s. Simply because the concept is extraordinary.
Your story is still being written.

This early Valentine goes out to my father (yup, another Dad post). Who is not a perfect person but by far one of the best people you should hope to come across. His day started with a minor car accident (mind the ice), a heavy non stop day at work (I was there) and ended with mediation between colleagues with hurt feelings. And through it all, he smiles and tells me what a good day it was and how much he looked forward to walking Pipey in the freezing cold (it is so so frigid here). Dad, I love you. And while it hasn't been perfect, you have given me an absolute life of adventure and taught me to take it for what it is worth.

Today was a good day for getting stressed out over shit I have absolutely zero control over. Someone doesn't like you? Someone's annoyed with you? Someone doesn't share the same views as you? Tomorrow, I vow to put every single bit of that negativity behind me. I simply resolve to not give a fuck. Because none of it matters. At all. The only thing that matters is now.

Well I am having a particularly miserable week. The usual. Self loathing, breaking up with people you actually like because you're scared of whatever. General awfulness. Which of course means it's time for a give away. This the first ever for So Much To Come but I think these things are imperative because my readers are my friends and I've got way too much shit.
Today's giveaway is a bottle of Chloe. That's right kids, Chloe perfume. That overpriced stuff you always douse yourself in right before you walk out of Saks Fifth Avenue. It's 3/4s full (because it's mine but it's perfectly fine, I just got tired of the scent). The top has some tarnish to it, which will look perfect on your vintage dresser.
How do you win it? Leave me a comment before February 14th (the worst day in the history of days) and tell me about your week. Worst week wins (like the infamous brownie scene from Notting Hill). Ready . . . set . . . whine!
(Don't forget to leave a blog or an email address so I can get your real address to send your prize for being worst off than I am.) Good luck! xoxo.
