I'd like to thank James for making sure to circle my head here with an arrow. Just in case anyone in my family missed it or confused me for the man to right. And with that I officially retire from my career as a human backdrop. Way too much pressure. Do I smile? No, it's serious. But if I don't smile I look like I'm frowning and then everyone's going to lament to me "Why did you frown so much, standing there?"
So instead I just looked towards the clouds, or rather the roof snipers. I am the worst backdrop ever.
Things I Like About The President:
- He apologized for keeping us all waiting when he greeted us in the meeting room, humility.
- He repeats people's names when meeting them, awareness.
- He seems pretty normal.
Now let's get to the good stuff. Whenever I go to the White House for whatever event, I find myself prancing in front of my wardrobe the night before. Knowing there's a small chance I'll be on television, puts a small spin on my ordinary dressing. I was happy I went with light colors instead of dark suits like so many of my backdrop cohorts. So I ended up with:
Scarf from H&M.
Top from Alexander Wang (bringing the A. Wang to the WH).
Trousers by Adam (one size too big for the desired slouch).
Shoes by Nine West.
Just serious enough to say, "This is serious stuff."
But just casual enough to say "This is Aja."

I don't know if it's a tribute to my age or a tribute to my being boring but this summer/spring all I want are plain dresses. Super plain with a nice cut. I bought the two Whistles dresses above (you can find them here but they're selling out quick) and I couldn't be happier with the fit and style. I will wear them for years.
I've of course got my eye on the plain Emerson Fry mod dress. I think I could love it forever. And that picture of Catherine Deneuve inspires me to find something black with a very simple, graceful back. I've actually been on this kick since I first saw this photo of Sofia Coppola in Louis Vuitton. What are you buying this spring?

I'm not trying to brag, but I had a beautiful weekend, loves.
I went to ballet, played in the sun, drank outside, hung out with my family and friends at the same time. Sat by the Lake with my Dad and the baby. It really just doesn't get better. I also changed my duvet cover and pillowcases to Marimekko's Lumimarja Celery. It may sound vain but pretty bedding makes me infinitely happier. So really, it was just all pretty perfect. How about you? Hope it was fantastic. And I really hope you got outside. The cherry blossoms are in full bloom!

Grimes is on the cover of Dazed and Confused this month and I love it. That's quite an ornate nose piece she's got there. This song was on constant rotation with me in January. I had to retire it for a little bit so I didn't overkill it. But now I'm ready to listen again! I love all the dancing girls in the video. Some of them dance like me and it makes me feel not as ashamed of my odd avant garde dance floor moves.

Stop It Right Now always features the coolest accessories on her blog and I always admire her bold sartorial picks and personal style. One of the nicer things about aging is settling into my own comfortable niche of quiet minimalism. The jewelry from the duo at Brook&Lyn is exactly what I'm talking about. Eye catching and unusual but not at all flashy. Love, love, love.

Peas if ever Kinfolk Magazine does a DC dinner, it's a date. Social anxiety be damned, we will eat, drink and be chatty if I have to drag you kicking and screaming. Not a threat, just a promise. Love Glasser. Love you.
Val Britton's paper collages remind me of how I feel in the morning when my alarm goes off after having not rose at this hour for a matter of weeks. The sunlight is beautiful but the alarm is jarring. The colors are lovely and the paper is jagged. I practically bolted straight out of bed today, with the sun in my eyes, of course. I hate springing forward.
Work from Val Britton but first spotted on Miss Moss.

Times when I wish I were a millionaire.
(It doesn't happen too often).
I had seen this glorious floating wonder known as the Aria on Pinterest but Honesty WTF confirmed that this beauty cruises the Amazon and is available to rent. Now let it be known, my younger sister and I dream of renting a house in Italy for an entire summer one day, but the dream of inviting all our friends and family aboard this lovely boat for some quality rainforest sight seeing, runs a very close second.
There's even a bar on board. That's right older sister, a bar.

I've never been a huge pusher of beauty products. Mostly because I absolutely believe that true beauty radiates from within. And really, it's best to work from the inside out because once you're happy with what's in your heart, you really will feel beautiful. However . . . I am a total sucker for packaging and advertisements. Make me believe that your product will bring beauty into my life and I will certainly take a sniff, gander and a pinch. Australian cosmetic brand MOR and Porters Paint have ticked every box in the way of capturing my interests. Could these ads be any more beautiful?

Just for shits and giggles. Actually this might be my favorite fashion video of late. The stories sometimes completely contrast the clothing but occasionally compliment. The poem in the beginning j'adore. The dancing is beyond charming. The singing was a little misplaced, but all in all, I think it's really great when models get to display their personalities instead of just being a blank canvas. What do you think?

Maybe I'm late to the party, it wouldn't be the first time and it certainly won't be the last . . . but isn't Surface to Air's SS12 collection fetching? They nailed the pastels like none other (and the bold blue speaks for itself). If you're looking to buy a bit of this collection Refinery 29 has got the hook up with a large discount for you. If you're one of those types that likes to buy entire collections to save yourself the hassle of shopping around . . . strike while the iron's hot.
